Dive Pattaya & Samae San

The main scuba diving areas around Pattaya are located in what we call the "Far Islands". These are the second ring of islands about 20-30 kilometers from Pattaya. The islands are controlled by The Navy, and no permanent structures are built there (boat traffic is also a minimum). These islands include Koh Rin, Koh Man Wichai, Koh Keung Badaan, Koh Hu Chang and Koh Phi. Altogether we have up to 20 different dive sites with visibility ranging from 5 - 15 meters.

There are many different types of soft and hard corals, and large schools of Jacks, Barracuda and Tuna. Blue Spotted Stingrays, Porcupine Pufferfish and Moray Eels can be seen on virtually every dive.

The newly sunk HTMS Khram shipwreck is located just south of Koh Phi and has fast become a favorite among local divers. An incredible amount of marine life has already been attracted to this wreck in a very short period of time.

The Samae San/Sattahip area has similar diving conditions, with the added attraction of two large intact shipwrecks. The Petchburi Bremen is an old freighter sunk in 21 meters of water in the Khram Channel (Sattahip). It's home to many Grouper and Barracuda. The Hardeep is a cargo ship sunk in 28 meters during the World War II era. This ship is completely intact, and can be navigated from bow to stern entirely inside!!

Mermaids I

Dedicated Dive Boat

The Mermaids I dive boat is an 18 meter (60 foot), purpose built scuba diving boat, which we have converted for scuba diving. This is the finest dive boat sailing Pattaya waters.

Mermaids II Boat 

Advanced Scuba Diving

The newly re-built Mermaids II Boat features small dive trips for experienced divers only. The boat is equipped with seating benches, a western style toilet, and tank racks to make your diving comfortable and enjoyable.

Mermaids II will be on a permanent schedule in Samae San as follows:

Tuesday: Day and Night Dive on the Hardeep, conditions permitting. Departs: 2:00 P.M.  

Thursday: 2 Dives on the Hardeep  

Saturday: Exploring the better Samae San Sites; Shark Fin, Hin Chalam, Hidden Rock, weather permitting  

Sunday: Wreck and Coral Dives

Mermaids II will be available for recreational and technical diving private charters every Monday, Wednesday and Friday!

Coral Diving

Coral dives around Pattaya are surprisingly good. The somewhat limited visibility is more than compensated  for by the huge variety of marine life and abundant coral formations. Our trips include two dives, lunch and a qualified PADI Divemaster or Instructor to supervise the trip.

Wreck Diving

The highlight of Pattaya diving is the three superb shipwrecks: The HTMS Khram, The Petchburi Bremen and The Hardeep. These steel cargo and troop transport ships are intact, and can be penetrated by divers with proper training

Discover Scuba Diving

The PADI Discover Scuba Diving experience let's you safely view the underwater world in only one day. We will teach you the basics of diving at one of the beaches, and our qualified PADI Instructors will lead you on an exciting tour of the fringing islands reefs.

PADI Open Water Course

The PADI Open Water Course is a four day program earning the diver an internationally recognized license. After completing this course you'll be qualified to join dive trips, and rent scuba equipment, all over the world. The course can be done on four consecutive days, any two weekends, or scheduled to your convenience.

PADI Continuing Education

We also offer PADI Advanced, Rescue, Divemaster and Instructor Training, supervised by a fully qualified PADI Course Director. We conduct exciting specialty training in areas such as DPV (underwater scooter), wreck diving, underwater videography, drift diving, and deep diving.

Technical Diving

Mermaids Dive Center offers the PADI Enriched Air Specialty Diver Course and the DSAT Semi Closed Circuit Rebreather Diver Course using the Draeger Dolphin. We also offer diver and instructor level Technical Diver Training with DSAT's DeepTec and Trimix Diver Courses and Gas Blender programs.

Mermaids is also a certified Nitrox and Trimix Gas Blending facility with the International Association and Technical Divers (IANTD). We offer IANTD Courses in Advanced Nitrox and Normoxic Trimix. 

Mermaids has a fully qualified TDI Advanced Trimix Instructor Trainer on Staff. We offer the TDI Advanced Trimix (90 meters) and Visual Tank Inspection & Self-Sufficiency Diver courses.
