Mermaid’s PADI IDC Programs - 2008

Dear Candidate,

We conduct PADI IDC programs in Jomtien Beach up to 10 times per year here at The Mermaids Dive Center. Mermaids is a PADI Five Star Career Development Center (CDC) located in Jomtien Beach (2 hours from Bangkok). We have a new facility complete with a brand new, computerized classroom, and a 19 meter by 5-meter dedicated training pool. We are located within easy sailing distance of three major steel shipwrecks, the Hardeep, the HTMS Khram and the Petchburi Bremen, as well as numerous coral sites. The diving here is consistent all year round, with 5-15 meters visibility. It is an ideal place for PADI IDC training.

Mermaids dive training center is also a Technical Diving Center, sanctioned as a Nitrox and Trimix Gas Blending Facility by DSAT, IANTD, and TDI. Mermaids have been certifying Nitrox (Enriched Air Divers), and technical divers for over since 1997, and we are now training divers and scuba diving instructors in full tech diving. All IDC candidates will be exposed to this all forms of diving at Mermaids. We will also be able to train you as DSAT Tec Deep and DSAT Trimix Diver or even technical diving instructor. Mermaid’s now offers DSAT Deep Tec and Trimix Instructor Training and DSAT Gas Blender Instructor Training for qualified divers. These are PADI/DSAT’s newest programs and can be conducted for you on request. Please feel free to contact us about the the Instructor Development Course programs in Jomtien Beach.

Thailand IDC Program Information

Mermaids Dive Career Development Center have been conducting the PADI Instructor Development Course (IDC) here in Thailand since 1995. The reputation of my program is the best in Thailand. Over the past ten years we had trained American, English, German, Thai, Italian, Israeli, Chinese, and Scandinavian instructors throughout exotic Thailand. Mermaid’s Dive Center also operates a job assistance service that has placed many of these PADI instructors in dive work positions here in Thailand, one of the fastest growing regions in the Dive Industry.

The Instructor Development Courses are held in Jomtien Beach (Pattaya), Thailand seven or more times yearly.

2. We provide extra assistance in many languages, if necessary. IDC staff members are fluent in English, Thai, and Scandinavian. Your lectures and presentations can be given in any of these languages (The English IDC lectures can also be translated for you, upon request). German and Japanese IDC materials are available with advance notice.

3. We have a job placement service, which can help you find a position in the dive industry in Thailand after the IDC. Our IDC Course Director has trained many of the PADI Dive Center owners in Koh Samui, Koh Phangan, KohTao, Pattaya, and Bangkok. If we can’t offer you a job in one of our own facilities, we will do our best to place you with one of our associated dive centers!

4. We have a Silver program, including the IDC preparatory course (IDC Prep), the IDC, and the Emergency First Response Instructor Course  (also EFRI Care for Children Instructor).

In order to enroll in the IDC Program we will need you to transfer a 40% deposit to Mermaids bank account. Please contact us for bank transfer details.

Please fax proof of transfer to us in order to confirm your place in the class. All course fees include instruction, transportation for the IDC and I.E., tanks and weights, and set lunch for the 9 days of the IDC. The only additional fees are PADI materials, meals other than lunch and application fees to PADI.

• Record at least 25 PADI teaching certifications.
• Achieve 5 PADI Specialty Instructor ratings.
• MSDT or Master Scuba Diver Trainer certification in FULL.
• 100++ dives for experience and pleasure (un-limited).
• Add 2 month’s diving work experience at a PADI Five Star CDC to your CV.

The PADI Staff Instructor Certification

• Record at least 25 PADI Certifications.
