PADI National Geographic Diver Courses

Mermaids CDC (Career Development Center) Pattaya, Thailand is now an official PADI National Geographic Dive Center. National Geographic Scuba Divers are adventurers, explorers, and conservationists. They have an interest in scuba diving and underwater sciences that goes beyond that of the average diver.

In addition, National Geographic divers have demonstrated skills and completed underwater tasks that broaden their awareness while scuba diving. They have increased buoyancy skill mastery beyond that required of a PADI Open Water Diver.  This is a foundation skill for specialty diving activities such as underwater Photography and Videography, and essential for reef and marine conservation also. The PADI National Geographic Diver's knowledge and skill level makes them and other National Geographic Divers true stewards and ambassadors for the underwater world.  

International Association of Handicapped Divers (IAHD) Training

We also offer training for disabled divers through the International Association of Handicapped Divers (IAHD), and are working to make our facilities and dive boats completely accessible to all. Mermaids Dive Center boasts 2 Pro Trainers and several dive professionals trained in techniques to help disabled people through the specific challenges they may face whilst diving. PADI has now released the dates for next years Instructor Examinations here in Pattaya, Thailand. Mermaids Dive Center will be conducting Instructor Development Courses 10 times through 2008. See the schedule for more information regarding when our IDC programs start and the dates of the PADI IE.

Mermaids Dive Center is a Divers Alert Network (DAN) Promoter and training facility.

We run monthly courses in provider level on DAN Oxygen First Aid for Diving Injuries, DAN Hazardous Marine Life Injuries (HMLI), DAN First Aid and DAN's On-Site Neurological Assessment. We can also train people to Instructor Level for DAN Oxygen Provider and for the Neurological Assessment Course.

PADI Project AWARE and ReefCheck Cources

Mermaids Career Development Center, a long time Project AWARE Dive Center now offer the Reef Check Eco Diver course. Reef Check is an international program that works with communities, governments and businesses to scientifically monitor restore and maintain coral reef health.

Divers learn to identify fish, substrates and invertebrates in order to survey them along a transect line and collate data to a centrally located database.

Splash for Trash. Come and help us to clean our reefs on September 15th.

Mermaids are supporting Project AWARE for their International Clean Up Day on September 15th. We will be out at Koh Sak gathering as much garbage as possible. At the same time as improving our local community we will be raising funds to support Project AWARE's general activities. This will be done through the fees for participation during the day and at the after-party where a raffle for donated prizes will take place.
